The problem

A global leader in potash mining (6 mines) and exporting had experienced high growth in developing markets (e.g. Asia). At the same time, significant developments were being made to Canadian / USA rail and port infrastructure.

Our approach

Our team retrieved global port data from public sources and filtered for key cost and capability variables. We supplemented dataset with direct contact and site visits, to understand current and future capability. We analyzed strategic and financial feasibility based on total cost to deliver (rail and vessel) to 3 key regions.
