Multi-site surgery center had low operating room utilization at its largest site. Problem was made complex by a variety of operating and political factors. A two-week diagnostic was conducted in advance of the project to better understand causes and opportunities.
Our team reduced operating room turnaround times through readiness standardization. We implemented tools and processes to identify underutilized physician surgery blocks. We established processes with key decisions makers to objectively award surgery blocks to physicians.
